What is CCT Outback Centre and street child projects?
The Outback Centre is our operational base from which the CCT run Family Projects and the Street Kids Project. The Outback Centre provides a variety of activities and opportunities for vocational training, job placement, career advice, counselling, literacy, and life skills development to disadvantaged and vulnerable young people and their families. In addition the Outback centre acts as a drop in type centre for children who are living and/or working on the streets of Cambodia in the hope of establishing trusting adult relationships necessary for these young people to make positive and lasting changes in their lives.
Mental Health Program
The mental health programme is designed our providing both staff workshops and child workshops centred around improving young people mental health. Learning has been centred around managing emotional difficulties as the direct result of disrupted attachment and trauma. We are seeking funding to be able to further develop this programme. The mental health programme has intentions of focusing a greater emphasis on development of self esteem and resilience classes and ongoing commitment to staffs professional development.
Who is it for?
Little Paths support strictly caters for young people and families known to Cambodian Children’s Trust, Cambodia. These include children and/or families who have or are currently experiencing homelessness, who are or have been registered with Cambodian Children’s Trust and who may or may not be connected with their families. To be an ‘orphaned child’ in many third world countries is classified as having only one parent or no parents alive to care for you. To be a ‘street child’ means that you have been living and or working on the streets permanently, part time or occasionally after which you return to your family home and to be an abandoned child means that you have family but that the family has refused your care repeatedly or have been deemed unfit and/or unable to care for you safely.
