About Little Paths | Helping Disadvantaged Kids Abroad Attend School

Little Paths is an organisation that supports street children worldwide through advocacy and through supporting on the ground support, via trusted organisations.

Little Paths was formed in 2009 then called Kuleana Kids Australia.  The charity was founded by Kate Bowyer who in 2008, at 30 years old came face to face with the experiences of children as young as 3 years old, that had been living and sometimes working on the streets of Mwanza, Tanzania.  After personally experiencing the devastation caused by poverty and its associated issues, Kate returned to Australia to continue her fight to reduce the number of children affected by street living.  Kate is currently working as an adolescent and family counsellor for young people at risk of homelessness and has worked in varying roles including Child and Adolescent Counselling, Trauma Counselling, Family Counselling and in UK as an Education Social Worker.

Originally Kate, supported by her group of girlfriends undertook the huge task of fundraising for the needs of street children, living in a street child centre in Mwanza, Tanzania.  As support grew for her work grew and her commitment solidified, the need for an official board became apparent.  The board began with 10 young woman, 5 of whom are still dedicated to our work and most recently the appointment of another 3 young woman.  From there our board has grown with the addition of an advisory board and a general board, including marketing expertise and adventure experts. 

The appointment of the Board saw Kuleana Kids Australia grow into what is now known as Little Paths Australia and has assisted in our reach extending to children in Cambodia. The Board Members are all very accomplished in their chosen field, bringing a wide range of skills and attributes to the table. They are hard working and dedicated and most importantly, they share Kate’s vision for supporting the children.
